Playing style
Sharma, known for his aggressive yet graceful batting style, excels as an opening batsman in limited-overs cricket and has predominantly played as a middle-order batsman in Test matches.
Widely acknowledged as one of the greatest limited-overs batsmen, he earned the moniker “Hitman” for his aggressive approach and proficiency in hitting sixes.
Sunil Gavaskar, in a November 2018 editorial for The Times of India, compared Sharma’s batting to the styles of Virender Sehwag and Viv Richards, asserting, “Rohit Sharma has been the standout performer in both the limited overs series and the T20 series.”
Drawing parallels to Sehwag, Gavaskar emphasized Sharma’s unstoppable nature once he finds his rhythm and his ability to score massive hundreds, similar to Viru. Concerns arise when Sharma gets out to seemingly innocuous shots, echoing the worries during Sehwag’s dismissals attempting big hits.
Gavaskar speculated that if Sharma can replicate his success in white-ball cricket in red-ball cricket. He could become the world’s most lethal batter after Viv Richards and Virender Sehwag.
While not a regular bowler, Sharma possesses the skill to bowl right-arm off-spin. Typically stationed in the slips, he emphasizes his commitment to developing this aspect of his game.

PLAYING STYLE OF ROHIT SHARMA

While he has spent the majority of his Test career as a middle-order batsman. Sharma is largely regarded as one of the greatest batsman in limited overs cricket. And he was known as Hitman because of his offensive batting style and six-hit skills.
Sunil Gavaskar compares Sharma’s batting style to that of Virender Sehwag and Viv Richards. Gavaskar stated in his November 2018 column for The Times of India:
Rohit Sharma has been the star player in both the limited overs and T20 series. He, like Virender Sehwag before him, is unstoppable once he gets going, and he, like Viru, craves huge hundreds. The passage expresses concern about Rohit Sharma’s dismissals in cricket, comparing it to the previous worries when Virender Sehwag attempted aggressive shots. The statement suggests that if Sharma can replicate his success in limited-overs cricket in the longer format (red ball cricket), he has the potential to become the most formidable batter globally, following in the footsteps of Viv Richards and Virender Sehwag.
